Farewell Lil’ Red

By Gaz under Bikes & Cars

Gary's Raptor

The doorbell rang before 10am today, and when I dragged myself out of bed to answer the door (unshaven, bleary eyed, and hastily dressed with my T-shirt inside out and my fly unzipped) there was the future owner of my much maligned Raptor. I made him a coffee, and took him to the garage to see her running while I dashed back inside to comb my hair and rearrange my clothes. As expected, when I returned a few minutes later he had fallen for her charms, and soon I was helping to load her onto the back of a van. Somewhat unexpected though, was the wistful pang of sadness I felt at saying goodbye. Despite the best efforts of the hateful Three Cross Motorcycles (lest we forget how truly useless they are, being that I haven’t opined at their so called customer service in almost a year!) to make owning her as awful an experience as possible, and a very low boredom threshold that encourages me to change cars and bikes once or twice a year, I’ve never owned or enjoyed a vehicle of any sort for such a long time: three-and-a-half years by my reckoning. I trust that she’ll bring as much pleasure to her new owner as she did me, and wish her a long and happy life. Farewell Lil’ Red!
