After breakfast on Thursday, we caught the metro to Universal Studios. The theme park was fun, particularly since we were nowhere near the high season, so we didn’t have to queue at all for anything.

As soon as we got through the gates, we climbed aboard the trolley for the studio tour. It took more than 45 minutes to drive around the various sound stages and outdoor locations, where almost everything was recognisable from one film or another: The crash site from War of the Worlds; the approach to Skull Island; town square from Back to the Future; a street from Bruce Almighty; and many, many others. Filming for the new season of Desperate Housewives was underway while we were being driven around the sets, and Tave pointed out Eva Longoria sitting in the passenger seat of a van following us up the hill, presumably on the way to Wisteria Lane :-) Cell phone glued to her ear, she still gave us a smile and a wave.
