Half Price Dreamhost Web Hosting

By Gaz under Announcements

If you’ve tried to visit my blog over the last 24 hours, you will have noticed that all of the content was gone, excepting a short error message about running out of memory on the host. I’m still not sure what the problem was, but I reported it to the excellent support team at Dreamhost last night, and when I woke up this morning everything was back to normal!

I’m was so impressed with the fast response at DreamHost that I’ve negotiated a special shared hosting deal for Azazil readers. This is the Dreamhost, Crazy Domain Insane hosting, which normally costs $9.95 per month, with a one time $49.95 setup fee, unless you pay for one year in advance. The standard package includes 150GB of disk space, 1.5TB of bandwidth per month, both of which increase with every week that you hold the plan, plus one free domain registration. The first 250 readers to sign up using the promo code: “555” qualify for a whopping 500GB of diskspace, and 5TB of monthly bandwidth with 5 free domain registrations.

If you miss that offer, or alternatively if you’d rather save money than pay for a whole wad of diskspace and bandwidth that you don’t need, you can enter the promo code: “AzazilNetRocks” which will get you the Crazy Domain Insane hosting plan, for just $4.95 per month, with no setup fee.

If you’ve been thinking of getting into the blog business, you won’t find a better combination of excellent technical service, and great hosting features at anything like $4.95 a month. So, what are you waiting for, Signup Now – using this link to prefill the import fields, all you have to supply is your contact details, the domain name you want to register and payment for $59.40, which will buy you the domain and a years hosting!

Gary,

Sounds like a cool plan. Although i have to admit i am a bit weary about Dreamhost (or rather, shared hosting in general), considering your blog often seems a bit slow to load, and of course problems sometimes appear such as the memory one you just experienced.

Personally i use a VPS at the moment, although i am thinking of changing to something a bit more low cost since my plan’s for it have changed somewhat (although i suppose i could run a game server on it, haha).

Hi James,

Shared hosting isn’t a silver bullet by any means, but when you compare $4.95 per month against even the cheapest dedicated host, there is at least on order of magnitude difference in price. When my blog starts earning a 3 figure monthly income, I’ll probably go dedicated myself, but (especially when I’m on the road) I don’t want the hassle of maintaining my own internet facing hosts over DSL.

You pays yer money, and you takes yer choice! ;-)
