Party On

Google maps reliably informs me that, despite ending up a little over 25 miles from where we landed at Birmingham International Airport, we will have driven 581 miles on the left hand side of the road during our first 10 days back in England… taking in Tewkesbury Marina, Kettering Hospital, Brixham Harbour, Out to Grass Mountain Boarding Centre, The Pig and Drum, Kidderminster Land Oak and due to arrive at Woodcote Farm in Dodford on Monday morning.
I’ve already picked up my MT01 from storage, but after 3 months of riding an armchair on wheels around Florida, going back to the sportier riding position on the MT01 with a lot of weight on my wrists made for a pretty uncomfortable 6 hours of fighting traffic up the M5 on Friday… not helped by cramming my head into a helmet for the first time since we left England in June.

This evening, however, ended in my old local The Pig and Drum, enjoying plenty of Guinness and Heavy Metal with my drinking buddies Dowl, Weave and Tim (bad phone camera picture above). We also consumed several Jack Daniels in honour of Atty, who would have been with us if he hadn’t selfishly buggered off to live in Thailand a month or two ago.
I must say that despite my feeling very cold and very poor whenever I’m here, England is certainly a great place to visit. And I do miss a sociable night at the pub with my mates…
