Although the first essay, ‘Doors of Perception’ raises some interesting points and is a good read, it seems to be little more than one mans detailed account of a mescalin trip. The second essay in the book, along with the accompanying 8 appendices, by contrast comprise a riveting and superbly researched treatise on Huxley’s theories about layers of consciousness… Given some time to digest these ideas, this second essay at least certainly contains more wisdom for me to access at a second read. Highly recommended.
